Pine Forest House, Brela, Croatia, 2019-2020
The house is located in Brela, in an area of dense pine forest, on a steep terrain facing the sea. By placing it in the centre of the plot and preserving the surrounding nature, a natural barrier has been created to reduce the noise, ensure privacy, and emphasize the Mediterranean atmosphere.
The configuration and steepness of the terrain influenced the design, placement, and organization of the facility on the terrain. The house is divided into two, mutually perpendicular volumes. One volume lies on the terrain in parallel with the terrain configuration, while the other one emerges from the terrain with a large console. Between the two volumes is a large outdoor terrace that enters the house, creating the sense that there is no boundary between outer and inner space. The access to the house and underground garage goes through a pine forest with minimal intervention in nature.
